The things people do sometimes amazes me – not in a good way. I guess some people don’t have no tact or manners. Or maybe they are just plain clueless.
Recently, a popular bodybuilder named Diana Andrews took a picture of a woman working out and post it. The idea was to inspire people to lose weight.
The caption of her photo read “love handles.” Then she added an insulting comment “I bet she’s ordering burgers for delivery,” with several burger emoji.
Well you can imagine the response of many social media users. A lot of them outraged commenting “How rude!”
Another added “The woman is working out – she has started her weight loss journey – cut her some slack! It wasn’t as if the woman was buying ice cream and using a scooter to get around.”
Diana later apologized on Snapchat, writing, “I realize I was wrong to make this silly joke. It wasn’t my intention to body shame, hurt or disrespect anyone.”
Whether it was Andrews’s intention to shame this woman or not, her unintentional mean post makes clear that body-shaming is still running rampant in society.
